NINE

Based on the musical the movie is about the director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion.  Following his biggest creative success he struggles to complete his latest film, all the while balancing his relationships with the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A group of sapient rag dolls, living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Elijah Wood), who displays leadership qualities that may help them to survive.
